OCALA, Fla. (WGFL) - Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Jeremie Nix was heading home from work Wednesday when a woman flagged him down at a red light. Her three-month-old baby was not breathing.

Video released by the sheriff's office Thursday shows Nix turn his patrol car around and off to the side of Lake Weir Avenue and SE 17th Street. There you can see Nix run to the woman, holding her unconscious child. Nix immediately puts the baby on the ground and starts doing life-saving techniques as the mother and another woman nervously watch.

UPDATE: Deputy Nix: 'Kingston and I are going to be buddies for a long time'

Not seeing any improvement, Nix carries the baby to his patrol car and tells the dispatcher, "I'm not waiting on the medic," he said. "I'm heading to the ORMC (Ocala Regional Medical Center). They're a half-mile away from me. I'm headed to their emergency room with the baby."

The video shows the patrol car drive to the hospital. It then shows pictures of Nix and the baby, Kingston, together. The sheriff's office says Kingston is doing very well and will make a full recovery.
