WILLISTON, Fla. (WGFL) -- Newly released video from inside an embattled Williston retirement home shows a younger resident mercilessly beating an 86-year-old man during an argument over a cupcake.
The security video was recorded inside the Good Samaritan Retirement home in October. Williston Police recently released it to CNN. The retirement home was recently put on moratorium after two of its employees were arrested and charged with elderly neglect in two separate cases.
In the video, a 52-year-old resident can be seen punching an 86-year-old man more than 50 times. CNN reports police say the younger man accused the older man of eating his cupcake.
Police say the victim had to be hospitalized. Police say the younger man, who had previously suffered a traumatic brain injury, was not charged with a crime because of his "limited capacity," CNN reports.
They say he was removed from the facility temporarily but was later allowed to return with one-on-one supervision.
