Ocala police searching for hit-and-run driver who struck, killed two women
OCALA, Fla. (WGFL) —
Ocala Police are searching for the driver of a silver pickup truck that struck two women crossing the street near the Downtown Square Saturday night.
Police say 39-year-old Alicha Negroni Andino and 28-year-old Jessie Cam Caldero both died at the scene after they were struck around 11:30 p.m.
Police say the women were crossing East Silver Springs Boulevard at the crosswalk when a 2014 Nissan Frontier pickup hit them at a high rate of speed. The truck continued west on Silvers Springs Boulevard but officers found it unoccupied at the intersection of North U.S. 441.
The department is asking for information from anyone who may have seen the truck driven or parked in the area of East Silver Springs Boulevard before 11:30 p.m.
