Public meeting tonight to discuss adding bike lanes to part of Newberry Road
The Florida Department of Transportation is having a meeting tonight to discuss adding bike lanes to Newberry Road in Gainesville.
The proposal from the Gainesville Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization would mean adding bike lanes to a one mile stretch between Northwest 44th Street to Southwest 38th Street.
Officials say it would tie in with existing bike lanes on the road. It would also require the removal of on-street parking on that section of the road.
Residents are invited to discuss the idea tonight from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' Doyle Conner Building at 1911 SW 34th St. in Gainesville.
Staff will be available to discuss the proposal.
