Sante Fe College police search for armed robbery suspect

Sante Fe College Police are searching for a man accused of armed robbery near the Northwest campus.

Police say at around 5:20 am. today the victim was walking on Northwest 83rd Street when a man armed with what looked like a handgun approached him and emptied his pockets.

The robber saw he had no valuables, and police say that's when he ran off to the North Woods.

Alachua County Sheriff's deputies are working with Sante Fe police to identify the robber.

They describe him as a white male, around 40 to 50 years old and about six feet tall with "scruffy" facial hair.

They say he was last seen wearing a grey dirty or old sweatshirt with a hood and blue jeans.

Police are encouraging people to avoid the North Woods since the suspect was last seen there.
