Gainesville teen arrested in December drive-by shooting
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WGFL) —
Alachua County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 17- year-old in connection with a drive-by shooting in December.
Deputies charged Matkenzie Edwards with attempted first degree murder after they say he fired into a crowd in the Linton Oaks neighborhood on December 28.
Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman Art Forgey said an argument over an female led to the shooting.
" It was actually a dispute that involved a female and one of our victims that led to some social media exchanges," Forgey said.
No one was hit or injured in the shooting and investigators said the victims provided information that led them to the shooter.
" Victims in this case we're able to give us an identification of who they thought was involved and a vehicle description," Forgey said.
Edwards is being held on a $250,000 bond at the Alachua County Jail where he will be tried as an adult.
