The Bo Diddley Plaza shines blue, Gainesville celebrates World Autism Day
J & B Autism Adventures of Alachua brought community members together to stand as a united front for Autism awareness.
"It makes me feel good because it lets me know that not only the city of Alachua but all the other surrounding areas are partnering and saying we stand behind you and we want awareness for Autism," founder of J&B , Lenora Francis said.
The Bo Diddley water wall shined blue tonight as commissioner Adrian Hayes-Santos presented the Autism Awareness Proclamation, making the whole month of April dedicated to Autism awareness.
"Autism affects 1 out 68 people in our country so it's important to spread the word about Autism and learn how to accept it in our community as well," Hayes-Santos said.
On April 7th, the organization will be having their annual world Autism day celebration event at Skinner Field in the city of Alachua.
Community members are invited to celebrate from 10am-1pm.
