Wanted Wednesday: Man accused of sexual assaulting, holding woman against her will

The Alachua County Sheriff’s office is looking for a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman and holding her against her will.

Deputies say Ulysses Phillips assaulted a woman at a Gainesville home last may.

“Mr. Phillips did attempt to forcibly have sex with our victim and then denied her the ability to escape," said Lt. Brett Rhodenizer.

Phillips was charged with sexually battery and false imprisonment and now deputies are asking for your tips to help find him.

“The incident occurred between a Mr. Phillips and a woman he knows so we don’t necessarily view him as a risk to the community at large but he definitely is a risk to her and is definitely someone we need to have in custody.” Rhodenizer said.

Deputies believe Phillips is still in the Gainesville area, he is 37-years-old, five foot six, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

“We are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s office or their local law enforcement agency so he can be put under arrest," Rhodenizer said.

“Obviously this is someone who is willing to resort to violence and physical intimidation with someone that he knows, so we want to make sure we are taking care of the public at large and make sure he doesn’t continue this behavior on a stranger or other potential victims," Rhodenizer said.
