Search for missing teen, soccer coach continues
Authorities are searching for a missing 17-year-old girl from Lake City, Florida. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says Caitlyn Frisina is believed to be with 27-year-old Rian Rodriguez.
WATCH: Lake City authorities hold news conference on missing teen.
According to WJAX, Rodriquez is her father's assistant boys soccer coach. Frisina's family say they last saw her Saturday night.
Frisina's parents told authorities that when they went to wake her up the next morning, her window was open, and the screen was off. Her car and cellphone were still at the house. Her parents saw the phone had been erased with a factory reset.
During a Columbia County Sheriff's Office news conference, the girl's mother pleaded with her, saying, "We love you, and we miss you. We need to know you are safe. We're waiting here with open arms."
WJAX states that a police report said a text message recovered indicated that "there may be a relationship between Caitlyn and a soccer coach at FWHS (Fort White High School)."
Officers tried to call Rodriguez on Sunday, but his cell phone was apparently turned off.
Authorities say the girl is 5'7", weighing 135 pounds. Rodriguez is 5'10", weighing 220 pounds.
They are believed to be traveling north in a red 2001 Mercury Sable, Florida tag number Z04CSC.
Deputies say Frisina took $200 from an ATM in St. Marys, Georgia early Sunday morning. The pair was spotted again at a gas station in St. George, Georgia hours later. The pair was last seen at a pawnshop in Fayetteville, North Carolina Sunday evening.
A Missing Child Alert was issued soon after.
Deputies say a 24-hour tipline is open for people to call if they have seen or may know where the teen and her coach may be: 877-419-0934.
