Gainesville, Fla. WGFL -- The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man wanted for attempted felony murder.
Deputies say 45-year-old Chester Lee James, was at a house party on SE 2nd Avenue last month, when he got into a fight with another man.
“Our victim was trying to leave and get in a car with two friends when they saw Mr. James load a firearm and level that firearm off and shoot in the direction where they were getting in the car,” said Art Forgey, Spokesman for the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say James shot at the car and hit one of the mirrors, no one was injured.
“However, they were scared for their lives and they fled on foot from the area,” Forgey said.
James is no stranger to law enforcement, “since 2003 he’s been booked in the jail 18 times," Forgey said.
The suspect is 6'1", 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Police said if you see James to call Crime Stoppers at 352-372-STOP.
“He knew what he did was wrong, he’s a convicted felon so he should not have had a firearm, he is a very dangerous person and so we need the viewers help to get him off the street," Forgey said.
