WANTED WEDNESDAY: Man accused of beating up woman because she tried to save his dog
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man they say beat a woman—all because she tried to save his dog.
Griagal Barr, 41, is on the run after officials say he and the victim were driving on Archer Road two weeks ago.
“The altercation began when his dog jumped out of the car and she got out to try and rescue it,” says Lt. Brett Rhodenizer, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. “Barr walked up behind the woman, punched her, shoved her into the car and then dove almost across her to get to the ignition—and drove the car away.”
Barr drove to Levy County where deputies say the victim hit him and escaped.
Officials say he drove off, and has eluded them ever since.
“What we want to remind folks is that these types of crimes happen quickly, so always be aware of your surroundings, again, our victim was pushed into her own car by someone she knew and then the car taken from her as she was battered,” says Lt. Rhodenizer.
And Barr is no stranger to law enforcement.
“He does have a prison history that includes drug offences,” says Lt. Rhodenizer.
Now, officials are asking for your tips to get him off the street, here is his description:
