Wanted Wednesday: A man trying to steal a/c units is on the run

Police are trying to find a man who tried to steal in broad daylight—and now police are asking for your help to find him

Kyryce Marcel Harris, 21, tried to steal a window unit air conditioner in Gainesville back in April 2017.

Authorities described the crime as… not cool, since they believe he tried to steal the a/c for quick cash.

“There is value inside an air conditioning unit, or air handling unit that has a lot of copper in it, and they can take that and sell it,” says Art Forgey, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The report says a witness confronted Harris at around 9a.m. in the act.

“When he was confronted by a witness, he denied it and said he was getting his tool back, and he left the scene without an air conditioner,” says Forgey.

Morris was arrested and convicted for burglary and grand theft—but is now wanted for violating his probation.

Authorities urge you to stay aware and call deputies if you see anything out of the ordinary.

“Even if it turns out to be nothing we would rather check it and be sure about it, than to be sorry and work a crime later on,” says Forgey.
