In a lineup full of sluggers, Jonathan India is one of the most lethal players in the batting order.
The junior infielder is hitting .430, tied for the team lead in home runs with 11 and is currently riding a 16-game hitting streak.
"I'm just doing what my abilities allow me to do," India said. "Just working hard every day and it's showing. I'm very happy with myself right now. Trying to drive balls all over the field, not just pulling it. That's what I worked on a lot throughout the summer and the fall."
Over the summer India spent time with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod League, where he put up a .273 average over 66 at-bats.
Now that he's improved his ability to drive balls to the right side of the field, he's working on pitch selection.
"Just (trying to avoid) swinging at pitches that are balls, pitchers' pitches basically, and not getting myself out," India said. "I just try to simplify things at the plate and not do too much, and put a good swing on the ball if it's there."
